On 8 March 2019, Stevenson, Wong & Co. Partner Mr. Stephen Wong was invited to give a presentation to the members of The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies. He delivered a speech on the topic of “How to Handle SFC Investigation: New “front-loaded” approach by the SFC” and attracted nearly 30 participants.
Mr. Wong’s presentation covered various issues including “The Conventional Regulatory Approach”, “Problems with the Conventional Regulatory Approach”, “The New “Front-loaded” Regulatory Approach”, “Aspects of the New “Front-loaded” Regulatory Approach” and “Implications for Different Parties”.
The regulatory nature of the Securities and Futures Commission has been crucial to listed companies in conducting their business in Hong Kong. In light of the governance and misconduct issues in recent years, the SFC has re-examined their existing regulatory tools and adopted a new approach to listing regulation. Stephen spent over 8 years working in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Futures Commission. He is experienced in handling complex commercial crimes, including market manipulation, insider dealing and fraud.
