Steveson, Wong & Co. Attended the 11th Lajiazui “Yangtze River Delta Integration Legal Reform Forum”

On 29 November 2019, Stevenson, Wong & Co. was invited to attend the 11th Lajiazui “Yangtze River Delta Integration Legal Reform Forum” held at Grand Hyatt Shanghai. Our firm’s senior associate Mr. Gordon Tsang and senior administrative officer Ms. Susan Lo as representatives of our firm attended the event. The forum was hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice, the Shanghai Bar Association, the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and co-organized by AllBright’s Shanghai Office.

The purpose of the forum was to discuss the needs of legal services in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Belt. Chaired by Mr. Shen Guoquan, a senior partner of AllBright Law Offices, the forum started with an opening speech given by Mr. Gu Gongyun, managing partner of AllBright Law Offices. Speakers included: the vice president of Shanghai Bar Association, Mr. Zhu Linhai; the vice president of Zhejiang Bar Association, Mr. Tang Guohua; the vice president of Anhui Bar Association, Mr. Zhang Xiaojian and the vice president of Jiangsu Bar Association, Mr. Song Zhengping. During the event, speakers gave speeches on various topics, including: “Yangtze River Delta Bar Associations Working Together to Help Chinese Lawyers Go Global”, “The Development Concept of Yangtze River Delta Legal Industry Integration” and “The Training of Lawyers’ Forces under the Integration of Yangtze River Delta”.

After the speeches, a round-table dialogue was hosted by Mr. Guo Chongqing, a senior partner of AllBright Law Offices. Guests included Mr. Ni Tongmu, a senior partner of AllBright’s Nanjing Office; Mr. Tang Guohua, a senior partner of AllBright’s Hangzhou Office; Mr Zhu Ming, a senior partner of AllBright’s Hefei Office and Mr. Zhou Kun, a senior partner of AllBright’s Suzhou Office.

During this forum, speakers shared their deep experiences on the legal topics in the Yangtze River Delta. Our firm was honoured to participate in this event and exchange insights with the guests.

Stevenson, Wong Co. Co-organised the ALB Greater Bay Area Legal Forum 2019

On 26 November 2019, Stevenson, Wong & Co. successfully co-organized the ALB Greater Bay Area Legal Forum 2019 at the Conrad Hotel in Guangzhou. Experts were invited to discuss the latest developments in legal services in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Our firm’s partners, Mr. Hank Lo, Ms. Catherine Por and Ms. Heidi Chui were invited to speak at the forum, accompanied by our firm’s senior associate Mr. Gordon Tsang, associate Mr. Kyle Lo, registered foreign lawyer Ms. Doris Wang, paralegals Mr. Harold Gan and Ms. Ivy Yeung, senior administrative officer Ms. Susan Lo and marketing and communications executive Ms. Julia Yeung.

Under the topic of “New Legal Integration in GBA: Legal Practical Issues in Commercial and Family Affairs”, Ms. Por, partner and the head of private client, discussed the different legal services that we may encounter at different stages of life, from cross-border marriage to family wealth planning, the establishment of trusts to probate matters.

Mr. Lo, partner and the head of corporate finance, shared with guests how “one Country, Two Systems” can assist Mainland companies to enter the global financial market. By sharing the new 16 measures in the Greater Bay Area and the requirements of IPO’s, Mr. Lo also analysed the advantages of setting up a company in the Greater Bay Area and the latest developements in the Hong Kong IPO market.

Ms. Heidi Chui, partner and the head of banking and Finance, Litigation and Disputes Resolution, explained the law and regulations under financial technology and innovation and shared her practical experience of establishing a new era of smart banking. Ms. Chui discussed how the Hong Kong Government supports and promotes fintech innovations including how the fintech regulatory sandbox introduced by the HKMA assists banks and technology companies.

Drawing from his own experience, Mr. Huang analyzed the rules and multi-resolution mechanisms for cross-border M&A transactions based on the development in the Greater Bay Area.

Shanghai Bar Association Visited Stevenson, Wong & Co.

On 6 November 2019, Mr. Zhu Linhai, the vice president of Shanghai Bar Association and senior partner of AllBright Law Offices, visited Stevenson, Wong & Co.’s Hong Kong Office. Our firm’s partners Mr. Hank Lo, Ms. Heidi Chui, Mr. Rodney Teoh, senior associate Mr. Gordon Tsang and senior administrative officer Ms. Susan Lo welcomed Mr. Zhu to our office.
