Our Senior Associate, Mr. Terence Lau, has been appointed by the Honourable Chief Justice Andrew Cheung Kui-nung, GBM of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal as a Practising Solicitor Member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel for a term of three years with effect from 16 October 2023.
The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel deals with disciplinary cases brought by The Law Society of Hong Kong against solicitors, registered foreign lawyers, trainee solicitors or an employee of a solicitor or a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong for alleged professional misconduct. Examples of professional misconduct include breaches of any of the provisions of the Legal Practitioners Ordinance, Practice Directions or circulars issued by the Law Society, principles of the Solicitors’ Guide to Professional Conduct and other rules, principles and guidelines governing professional conduct.
Terence specialises in corporate finance law and has been advising listed issuers, sponsors and/or underwriters in a broad range of transactions, including initial public offering on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, general offer and regulatory and compliance matters. Terence is also a member of the Appeal Panel (Housing) of the HKSAR, a member of the Membership & Corporate Affairs Committee of the Hong Kong Tennis Association, a council member of the Hong Kong Veterans’ Tennis Association and a member of the Recreation and Sports Committee of the Law Society.
