Partner, Catherine Por, contributed the Hong Kong chapter in International Relocation of Children

Ms. Catherine Por, Partner of Stevenson, Wong & Co. contributed the Hong Kong Chapter in International Relocation of Children, A Global Guide from Practical Law (First Edition) which was published in March 2016 by Thomson Reuters.

This Global Guide to the Law on the International Relocation of Children is a ground-breaking collaboration among experienced relocation/family law practitioners around the world, providing comprehensive and informative answers to the question of relocation of a child from his/her home country for different reasons after separation or divorce. This guide adopts a pragmatic approach to problems, which would be helpful not only to legal practitioners but also to the general public.

Transaction Update

Stevenson, Wong & Co. assisted Ching Lee Holdings Limited (8318.hk) in its initial public offering on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited

SW acted as the legal advisers to Ching Lee Holdings Limited (Stock Code: 8318), a company principally engaged in providing substructure building works services, superstructure building works services and repair, maintenance, alteration and addition for an existing structure services, in its initial public offering by way of placing on the Growth Enterprise Market of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the “Stock Exchange”).

300 million shares of Ching Lee Holdings Limited were placed and the final placing price was HK$0.283 per placing share. The shares were listed on the Stock Exchange on 29 March 2016.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. gave a presentation on banking and corporate finance matters

On 23 March 2016, our partner Mr. Eric Lui, senior associate Ms. Freda Au and banking department legal executive Mr. Man Wong together with Mr. Du Xiaodong, partner of AllBright Law Offices were invited by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, Kowloon East Commercial Centre to give a presentation on various banking and corporate finance matters.

Mr. Lui delivered a presentation titled “The Key Points for Overseas IPOs and Merger and Acquisitions Transactions”. The presentation covered the basic requirements for listing in Hong Kong, reorganisation of red-chip companies and loan arrangements when pledging shares of listed companies.

Mr. Du gave his presentation on legal issues faced by offshore banks when dealing with PRC companies. Different PRC laws relating to foreign exchange management and guarantee were explained in great detail.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. delivered a presentation on the Competition Ordinance

On 22 March 2016, our partner Mr. Neville Watkins gave a presentation on the newly-implemented Competition Ordinance (Cap. 619) at Certified Public Accountants Australia (“CPA Australia”) office. The presentation was well attended by members of CPA Australia.

During the presentation, Mr. Watkins explained the general applications of this new law, and its particular implications on the accounting industry.

Opening ceremony of new office of Stevenson, Wong & Co.

In March 2016, our firm expanded with a new office opening at Gloucester Tower, The Landmark. On 18 March 2016, an opening ceremony was held at our new office.

Our partner Mr. Willy Cheng gave an opening speech to wish the firm a prosperous future. This was followed by a toast made by our partners and a wine party.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. attended the Interlaw Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2016

Our Ms. Lai Lam attended the Interlaw Asia Pacific Regional Conference held in Hanoi, Vietnam between 17 and 20 March 2016.

The theme of this event was ‘Windows for Integration’. The conference provided the participants with an overview of the recent negotiation of The Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement which successfully linked 12 economies, representing 40% of global GDP, and brought about a series of bilateral or multilateral Free-Trade Agreements in the Asia Pacific region. Close to 50 delegates from member firms attended this event.

Ms. Lam also attended several talks during the event. Keynote speakers included Dr. Vo Tri Thanh (deputy head of CIEM/Economist), Ms. Dinh Thi Quynh Van (CEO, PwC Vietnam) and Mr. Kevin Doolan from Møller PSF Group also gave his talk on global client development.

Delegates found the meeting informative and look forward to networking at future conferences later in the year in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA and Valletta, Malta, and ending with the AGM in Tokyo, Japan.
