Stevenson, Wong & Co. Attended a 3-Day Economic and Legal Integration Program Between Shandong and Hong Kong

To further strengthen the cooperation and exchanges between Shandong and Hong Kong in the field of economic and trade legal services, Stevenson, Wong & Co. participated in a 3-day economic and legal integration program.

On 11 Dec 2019, our firm’s senior associate Mr. Samson Wong attended an intellectual property law training seminar held at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong. Mr. Wong discussed intellectual property rights in Hong Kong and explored the opportunities under the “One belt, One Road” initiative. Mr. Wong also shared his own experiences of intellectual property in Hong Kong with the delegation of lawyers from Shandong.

The following day, the delegation of Shandong lawyers visited our firm’s office located in the heart of Hong Kong’s business district. Guests included: the deputy director of Shandong Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Ms. Liu Xiangyu; the senior partner of AllBright’s Qingdao Office, Mr. Zhang Yi; director of Shandong Haocai Law Firm, Mr. Zhou Changpeng and director of Shandong Depository Law Firm, Mr. Huang Gongcun. Our firm’s partner Ms. Catherine Por, representing our firm, welcomed and introduced our firm to the delegation.

On 13 December 2019, our firm’s partner Mr. Rodney Teoh, senior associate Mr. Dominic Lau and associate Mr. Kyle Lo participated in the Shandong-Hong Kong economic and trade law exchange conference and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao promotion law committee exchange conference. At the meetings, lawyers from different regions discussed developments in how to combine their advantages in the Shandong Free Trade Zone. Law firms that participated in establishing the free trade zone from Hong Kong also shared their experiences and suggestions during the meeting.

Stevenson, Wong & Co.’s Senior Associate Mr. Gordon Tsang Attended “Hong Kong and Macao Young Lawyers Visiting the Mainland”

With the support of the Ministry of Justice, the fourth session of the “Hong Kong and Macao Young Lawyers Visiting and Training in the Mainland” was organised between 12-16 December 2019. This is the only young lawyers training program organised by the All China Lawyers Association, which invited 8 young lawyers from Hong Kong and 4 young lawyers from Macao. Our firm’s senior associate Mr. Gordon Tsang was honoured to be invited as one of the young lawyers from Hong Kong.

Mr. Tsang also visited the All China Lawyers Associations, the Supreme People’s Court, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, the Bishan District Justice Bureau and local law firms. During the training, Mr. Tsang communicated with various leaders from different groups to gain a deep understanding of the legal system in the Mainland, the development of lawyers in Chongqing, the court system and trial system and how the implementation of smart courts promoted judicial reform.

Mr. Tsang expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Justice, The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the All China Lawyers Association for their invitations and receptions. It was with great honour to go to the Mainland as a young lawyer from Hong Kong to study and communicate with the leaders of the All China Law Association and Chongqing Law Association and looked forward to participating in similar events in the future.

On 7 December 2019, our firm’s partner Mr. Willy Cheng, senior associate Mr. Gordon Tsang, paralegal Mr. Arthur Hung and senior administrative officer Ms. Susan Lo attended the 5th anniversary celebration of AllBright Law Offices’ Xiamen branch and the “M&A Opportunities and Challenges Under the New Pattern of China’s Economy” forum.

Our firm’s partner Mr. Willy Cheng delivered a speech at the celebration to congratulate the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Xiamen branch and looked forward to the continued cooperation between the firms.
