Stevenson, Wong & Co.’s 2019 Spring Dinner

Stevenson, Wong & Co.’s 2019 Spring Dinner took place at The World Trade Centre Club on 15 March 2019. This year, the theme was “Superheroes”, in recognition of every member of the firm who has strived to make an impact in our society.

It was our great pleasure to have both Mr. Liu Chunhua, Director-General of the Department of Law of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government (“LOCPG”), Mr. Xie Han of the Department of Law of the LOCPG, Ms. Liu Chang and Mr. Ares Lee, the CFO and the Vice Director of the Department of General Research of China Legal Service (H.K.) Ltd., respectively, and other honourable guests from AllBright Law Offices (“AllBright”) who were led by Mr. Liu Feng, Senior Partner of AllBright, to celebrate with our colleagues from both Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

Our Partners, Mr. Willy Cheng, Mr. Hank Lo and Ms. Catherine Por together with Mr. Liu Feng took the opportunity to express their gratitude to all staff for their hard work throughout the year. It was a marvellous evening filled with delicious Chinese cuisine, exciting lucky draws, wonderful singing and dancing performances coupled with interactive games.

AllBright Law Office Visited Stevenson, Wong & Co.

On 15 March 2019, representatives from AllBright Law Office paid a friendly visit to Stevenson, Wong & Co. (“SW”) and met with our partners Ms. Heidi Chui, Ms. Milly Hung, senior associates Mr. Samson Wong and Mr. Gordon Tsang. SW partner Ms. Heidi Chui, senior associate Mr. Samson Wong and Mr. Gordon Tsang gave an introduction of SW’s services and exchanged ideas with the audience so as to develop further co-operation between our firms.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. Partner Ms. Heidi Chui Attended as Guest Speaker at the “Career Aspirations with HKU” Talk by the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong

On 8 March 2019, our Partner Ms. Heidi Chui, and Trainee Solicitors Mr. Tommy Chan and Ms. Lillian Yan, attended as alumni guest speakers at the “Career Aspirations with HKU” Talk by the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong.

Ms. Heidi Chui shared her insights on the Hong Kong legal profession and on the key qualities of a successful lawyer with over 300 secondary school students, teachers and parents. Her sharing was very well received by the audience.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. Partner Mr. Stephen Wong Gave a Presentation to The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies

On 8 March 2019, Stevenson, Wong & Co. Partner Mr. Stephen Wong was invited to give a presentation to the members of The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies. He delivered a speech on the topic of How to Handle SFC Investigation: The New “front-loaded” approach by the SFC” which attracted nearly 30 participants.

Mr. Wong’s presentation covered various issues including “The Conventional Regulatory Approach”, “Problems with the Conventional Regulatory Approach”, “The New “Front-loaded” Regulatory Approach”, “Aspects of the New “Front-loaded” Regulatory Approach” and “Implications for Different Parties”.

The regulatory nature of the Securities and Futures Commission has been crucial to listed companies in conducting their business in Hong Kong. In light of the governance and misconduct issues in recent years, the SFC has re-examined their existing regulatory tools and adopted a new approach to listing regulation. Stephen spent over 8 years working in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Futures Commission. He is experienced in handling complex commercial crimes, including market manipulation, insider dealing and fraud.
