On 25 July 2018, SW Partner Ms. Heidi Chui, Senior Associate Ms. Katy Lai and Associate Mr. Jensen Chang were invited to give a presentation to the senior management and core staff of Cinda International Holdings Limited. The topics included “Personal Privacy Protection in Mainland China and Hong Kong”, “EU’s General Data Protection Regulation” and “Network Safety” and in particular, how businesses should protect the privacy, comply with regulations and prevent a cyber-attack.

On 18 July 2018, Stevenson, Wong & Co. Partner Mr. Stephen Wong was invited by LexOmnibus to give a CPD course with the topic of “Regulations against Insider Dealing – from preventative to proactive” to lawyers and in-house counsel.

In the 3 hours course, Mr. Wong shared various topics regarding “Insider Dealing” and “Insider Information” including definitions, analysis from wrongdoers and victims, existing legal provisions and applications. He also shared some real cases and the skills required if their clients are investigated for insider dealing.

On 27-28 June 2018, Stevenson, Wong & Co. participated in the “Life Buddies Scheme” – Job Tasting Programme. The scheme was launched by The Commission on Poverty in October 2015 to promote a mentoring culture in the community to help youths from disadvantaged backgrounds to move upward in society and thereby reducing intergenerational poverty.

During the two-day programme, the participants visited our law firm and handled tasks relating to different cases studies and research. They also attended a CPD course with our lawyers. Our associate Mr. King Tan shared his experience and anecdotes with the participants. “We now have a better understanding about a law firm and the role of a lawyer. We are happy to have joined this programme.”

On 25 June 2018, Stevenson, Wong & Co. Partners Ms. Heidi Chui and Ms. Sherlynn Chan attended the 50th Anniversary Kick-Off Ceremony of The University of Hong Kong, Faculty of Law. The ceremony was well-received and attended by The Honourable Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma, the Chief Justice of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal. Professor Andy Hor and Professor Michael Hor were respectively invited to deliver the speech and vote of thanks to the guests.

On 23 June 2018, Stevenson, Wong & Co.’s football team led by partner Mr. Stephen Wong, played a friendly match with AllBright (Shenzhen) Office.

Although there was heavy rain, the weather did not dampen the spirit of cooperation and friendship between the two teams. After the competition, the teams had dinner and watched The World Cup together which gave an opportunity to deepen our friendship. As a result, we look forward to playing more matches with teams from other AlBright offices in the near future.

On 20 June 2018, Stevenson, Wong & Co. Partner and Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department, Ms. Heidi Chui participated in the Law Society’s visit to the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (“SCIA”). She is a member of the Arbitration Committee of The Law Society of Hong Kong and met with SCIA representatives. Participants gained an in-depth understanding about the SCIA which is beneficial for future collaboration.
