Langfang Arbitration Commission (LAC) was established in May 2012. LAC is a social service organization established in Langfang, China in accordance with the Arbitration law of the People’s Republic of China and the principle of governciple support, autonomous management and independent arbitration, to provide independent, efficient and economic dispute resolution services to parties. LAC has more than 230 arbitrators and they are well-known professors, senior economists, senior accountants, senior lawyers and other experienced scholars.

On 4 August 2017, Secretary-general of Langfang Arbitration Commission Ms. Cheng Wen, Business Development Director of Langfang Arbritration Commission Mr. Lee Wai, Secretary of Langfang Arbritration Commission Ms. Xing Xin Yu and Ms. Wong Gong Jing, and arbitrators visited our Hong Kong office.

SW partner, Ms. Heidi Chui, acted as the master of ceremonies in the Members’ Forum and Dinner Gathering of the Law Society of Hong Kong (“the Law Society”) held at the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Members’ Club on 28 July 2017.

Members’ Forum is an annual event serving as a platform for members of the Law Society to mingle and discuss the latest hot topics in the legal profession.

The theme of this year’s Members’ Forum is “Use of Awards and Citations in Practice Promotion”. In furtherance of the theme of the Members’ Forum facilitating members to better the practice promotion by way of awards and citations, members of the Law Society were invited to submit suggestions on this topic. The members also had a chance to have a direct dialogue with the President and Council members to exchange ideas and opinions. The member who made the best suggestion was awarded a grand prize, namely, the Apple iPad Pro 10.5-inch model (64GB, WIFI) as well as vouchers for Citysuper.

The Members’ Forum was well attended by members of the Law Society.

On 28 July 2017, our partners Mr. Rodney Teoh and Legal Executive Mr. Man Wong attended the Hong Kong Securities & Futures Employees Union 6th Anniversary Gala Dinner celebrated in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR.

Mr. Teoh and Mr. Wong met the Honorary Life Chairman of Hong Kong Securities & Futures Employees Union Mr. Patrick Lam during the event in which numerous members had participated and shared the joyful moment.

Our Mr. Eric Lui attended the “PPP and Practical Law of Asset Securitization” forum and the opening ceremony of AllBright new office in Xian on 22 July 2017.

To celebrate the opening of its new office in Xian, the events were held at Shangri-La Hotel Xian and the representatives of AllBright offices across the country came to share the joyful moment. Meanwhile, the “PPP and Practical Law of Asset Securitization” forum was also held to discuss the practical legal issues related to asset securitization and PPP.

AllBright has established over 15 offices throughout China and the operation keeps on growing. Mr. Lui congratulated AllBright for the achievement and he was looking forward to craving success in the future together with AllBright.

Our legal executives Mr. Stanley Hung, Mr. Man Wong and Ms. Hebe Au were invited by Deputy Head of Corporate Banking of Bank of China, Seoul Branch Cheryl Yan to attend an exchange activity at Bank of China, Seoul Branch from 7 to 9 July 2017.

During the visit, Mr. Hung, Mr. Wong and Ms. Au introduced the services of SW and identified the typical requests for legal services which include China appointed attesting services and engaging Hong Kong lawyers to prepare Hong Kong legal opinions. This is the first meeting between SW and Bank of China, Seoul Branch, which was a success to build further communications.
