Ms Heidi Chui is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (U.K.) and an Accredited General Mediator with both the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and the Law Society of Hong Kong. She is also a member of the Arbitration Committee of The Law Society of Hong Kong.

She is a frequent speaker at arbitration events, including but not limited to Cross Strait Four Regions Young Lawyers Forum and the Belt and Road Summit organized by the Law Society of Hong Kong, seminars at Shanghai Arbitration Commission and Ningbo Arbitration Commission.

On 17 August 2017, SW partner and the head of Banking & Finance Mr. Eric Lui was invited by China Construction Bank (Asia) to present the topic of “Acquisition Financing and Building Loan from Legal Perspective and Pre-IPO Investment Financing”. SW senior associate Ms. Hazel Wong, associate Mr. Edmund Poon, and legal executives Mr. Man Wong and Ms. Hebe Au also attended the seminar.

In this seminar, Mr. Eric Lui not only explained the legal factors and the process of acquisition financing and building loan, but also the Pre-IPO investment financing.

During Mr Lui’s presentation at the Hong Kong district headquarters, there was a live video to the bank’s Kowloon district headquarter. The seminar was well received and drew over 120 attendees from Commercial Banking Division, Corporate Banking II Division, Learning & Development Department, Trade Solutions Department and all attendees found the sharing both interesting and practical.

On 10 August 2017, a 20 members delegate from Yueyang City visited Stevenson, Wong & Co. to learn about the legal aspect of red chips listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as well as the Hong Kong debts capital market. The visit was organized by the United Front Work Department of Municipal Committee of Yueyang City, Yueyang City Federation of Industry and Commerce, Hunan Sunshine Holdings Ltd, and Hunan Province trade representative office in Hong Kong, together with the support team from Deloitte China.

Mr. Hank Lo, Ms. Erica Cheng and Mr. Aaron Xie delivered a seminar on IPO application process and had in-depth discussions with the directors and senior management of a number of private enterprises based in Yueyang City.

We are delighted to announce that our Partner, Mr. Eric Lui has been re-appointed by The Honourable Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma, the Chief Justice of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal as a practising solicitor member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel in October 2017 for a further term of three years.

A Tribunal deals with a specific disciplinary case brought by The Law Society against any person who is, or was at the relevant time, a solicitor, a registered foreign lawyer, a trainee solicitor or an employee of a solicitor or a registered foreign lawyer of Hong Kong for alleged professional misconduct. Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel comprise of not more than 120 practising solicitors of at least 10 years’ standing, not more than 10 foreign lawyers and not more than 60 lay persons who are not, in the opinion of the Chief Justice, connected in any way with the practice of law.

Langfang Arbitration Commission (LAC) was established in May 2012. LAC is a social service organization established in Langfang, China in accordance with the Arbitration law of the People’s Republic of China and the principle of governciple support, autonomous management and independent arbitration, to provide independent, efficient and economic dispute resolution services to parties. LAC has more than 230 arbitrators and they are well-known professors, senior economists, senior accountants, senior lawyers and other experienced scholars.

On 4 August 2017, Secretary-general of Langfang Arbitration Commission Ms. Cheng Wen, Business Development Director of Langfang Arbritration Commission Mr. Lee Wai, Secretary of Langfang Arbritration Commission Ms. Xing Xin Yu and Ms. Wong Gong Jing, and arbitrators visited our Hong Kong office.
