Stevenson, Wong & Co. attended the Annual Cocktail Reception organised by the Law Society of Hong Kong
SW partners Mr. Eric Lui and Ms. Heidi Chui attended the Annual Cocktail Reception organised by the Law Society of Hong Kong (the “Law Society”) on 17 November 2014. The event attracted more than 430 guests, including the Honorary Chief Executive Mr. Leung Chun Ying, the Honorary Secretary for Justice Mr. Rimsky Yuen SC and Secretary for Development Mr. Chan Mo Po, Paul.
Our partners cherished the precious opportunity to meet and exchange views with fellow practitioners and distinguished guests. This annual function of the Law Society indeed provided a good setting for SW to mingle with our professional peers, and to interact with members of the Judiciary, the Legislative Council and Government officials.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. attended “Cosmoprof Asia 2014”
On 14 November 2014, SW legal executives Mr. Stanley Hung and Mr. Man Wong attended the 19th “Cosmoprof Asia 2014”, the industry’s leading B2B beauty event in Asia, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre upon the invitation of our client, Choi Fung Hong Co., Ltd.
The event organisers hosted more than 2,350 exhibitors from 42 countries and regions including 22 national and group pavilions, exhibiting products of cosmetics, skincare, nail, hair and personal care. The event attracted close to 60,000 visitors from all over the world. China, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Japan were the top 5 Asian sources of visitors outside of Hong Kong. International attendees accounted for 64% of the total attendance with 38,059 visitors from 93 non-Asian countries. The strong international turnout was underlined by the big increase in representation from the USA and European countries such as Belgium, Denmark, Hungary and Sweden – together with emerging countries such as Indonesia, Myanmar, South Africa and Turkey.

Established in 1995, Choi Fung Hong Co., Ltd. is a large regional manufacturer and distributer for personal skin care and cosmetics products in Hong Kong. It has established famous brands such as Joseristine and JimmBENNY.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. attended PRC Arbitration Practice Seminars for Hong Kong Legal Professionals in Shanghai
SW partner Ms. Heidi Chui attended the “PRC Arbitration Practice Studies for Hong Kong Legal Professionals” organized by, inter alia, the East China University of Political Science and Law from 13 to 15 November 2014 in Shanghai, China.
Ms. Chui, together with more than twenty other legal professionals from Hong Kong, participated in the 3-day seminar focusing on the practice of arbitration in Mainland China. Eminent scholars and experts in PRC Arbitration law and practice shared their insights on new development in arbitration laws in Mainland China, including the innovative legal framework, finance and investment facilitation measures and diversified arrangements for dispute resolution in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (“the Shanghai Free Trade Zone”).

Ms. Chui also visited the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (“SHIAC”) and exchanged views on the latest trends in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone with Mr. Xu Chuan, Presiding and Senior Judge of the Higher People’s Court of Shanghai Municipality, Mr. Wen Wanli, the Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of SHIAC and lawyers and arbitrators from both Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. attended the opening ceremony of CCB (Asia) Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival 2014
On 30 October 2014, SW partners Mr. Eric Lui, Ms. Cornelia Chu and Legal Executive Mr. Man Wong attended the CCB (Asia) Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival 2014.
The event was sponsored by China Construction Bank (Asia) Corporation Limited (“CCB (Asia”)) this year. This 6th annual festival, running from 30 October until 2 November 2014, was held for the first time at the promenade of the former Kai Tak Airport, with the city’s fabulous neon-lit skyline and iconic Victoria Harbour serving as the backdrop. The festival promised tantalizing products and elements to complement its usual offerings of fine wines, great cuisine and entertainment.
CCB Asia and its Private Banking Department invited us and their prestigious corporate and individual clients to join the festival, including our client Roma Group Limited (a company listed on the Growth Enterprise Market of The Hong Kong Stock Exchange, stock code: 8072).

Stevenson, Wong & Co. presented at AllBright Law Offices on arbitration and cross-border litigation
On 24 October 2014, SW partners Mr. Eric Lui, Ms. Heidi Chui and associate Ms. Jennifer Li delivered a presentation to around 50 PRC lawyers at AllBright Law Offices on the topic of “Arbitration and Cross-border Litigation”.

SW delivered a detailed presentation on the use of arbitration and cross border litigation in relation to banking disputes, shareholders’ disputes, white collar crimes and commercial fraud. Topics such as enforcement of Hong Kong judgments in the mainland China and cross-border tracing of property were also covered. The presentation also included case studies which provided the audience with a clear and precise demonstration on how rights of corporations can be protected through litigation and arbitration in Hong Kong.

On 23 October 2014, SW partners Mr. Eric Lui, Ms. Heidi Chui and associate Ms. Jennifer Li delivered a presentation to 77 bankers from over 40 banks in China on the topic of “Arbitration and Cross-border Litigation” at the Shanghai Banking Association.

SW delivered a detailed presentation on the use of arbitration and cross-border litigation in relation to banking disputes, shareholders’ disputes, white collar crimes and commercial fraud.
