Our Senior Associate, Mr. Terence Lau, has been appointed by the Honourable Chief Justice Andrew Cheung Kui-nung, GBM of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal as a Practising Solicitor Member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel for a term of three years with effect from 16 October 2023.
The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel deals with disciplinary cases brought by The Law Society of Hong Kong against solicitors, registered foreign lawyers, trainee solicitors or an employee of a solicitor or a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong for alleged professional misconduct. Examples of professional misconduct include breaches of any of the provisions of the Legal Practitioners Ordinance, Practice Directions or circulars issued by the Law Society, principles of the Solicitors’ Guide to Professional Conduct and other rules, principles and guidelines governing professional conduct.
Terence specialises in corporate finance law and has been advising listed issuers, sponsors and/or underwriters in a broad range of transactions, including initial public offering on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, general offer and regulatory and compliance matters. Terence is also a member of the Appeal Panel (Housing) of the HKSAR, a member of the Membership & Corporate Affairs Committee of the Hong Kong Tennis Association, a council member of the Hong Kong Veterans’ Tennis Association and a member of the Recreation and Sports Committee of the Law Society.

Stevenson, Wong & Co. acted as international counsel for the placing agents in the successful issuance of CNY497 million 7.9% bonds due 2026 by Sichuan Naxing Industrial Group Co., Ltd. (the “Issuer”).
The Issuer is a state-owned enterprise 90% owned by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the People’s Government of Luzhou and 10% owned by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Finance. The Issuer is principally engaged in infrastructure construction agent, property sales, asset leasing and commodity sales businesses in Luzhou City.

On 12 October 2023, our Partner Gordon Tsang was invited by LexisNexis to give a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course on “The latest development and practice on IPO and ESG”.
During the 3-hour webinar, Mr Tsang, along with Kinglsey Cheng, Partner and Director and Head of Risk & ESG Advisory of Prism Advisory Limited, provided a comprehensive overview of Hong Kong’s IPO market by sharing their insights into the latest updates on listing requirements, relevant listing decisions, and new regimes. In the second part of the webinar, they focused on the crucial aspect of ESG considerations in the IPO process and outlined the corresponding listing requirements.

On 6 October 2023, our Partner Mr. Rodney Teoh was invited as a keynote speaker at the 2023 Digital Asset Series (DAS) Seminar titled “Opportunity for RWA (Real World Asset) Tokenization” took place at the HKUST Business School.

Rodney delivered an engaging and insightful keynote address “Raising capital in the web3 era”. He provided a comprehensive overview of recent deals in Hong Kong and highlighted key developments in RWA tokenization around the globe. He also shared valuable insights into transaction structures, requirements, and challenges associated with Security Token Offerings (STOs).

Following his keynote speech, Rodney participated in a panel discussion with the other speakers, including Mr. Samson Lee, Founder and CEO at Coinstreet, Mr. Robert Lui, Hong Kong Digital Asset Leader at Deloitte, Mr. Michael Wong, President of Society of Registered Financial Planners, and Mr. Kevin Ho, COO of Fusang to engage in further discussion on the topic of Security Token and RWA Tokenization.
The seminar received an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience, attracting over 80 participants from various sectors and industries.
