Stevenson, Wong & Co. Presents Prizes to the Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong’s Students

Stevenson, Wong & Co. has been nurturing legal talents by sponsoring academic prizes at local universities since 2010. On 1 September 2021, our Partner Ms. Heidi Chui attended the P.C.LL. Award Presentation Ceremony at The Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong (HKU).

This year, our firm sponsored prizes in Commercial Dispute Resolution and Employment Law & Practice to students with the best performances in these courses.

Partner Heidi Chui and Senior Associate Kyle Lo Invited by Client to Attend Film Premiere

On 25 August 2021, our firm’s Partner Ms. Heidi Chui and Senior Associate Mr. Kyle Lo, were invited by client to attend the premiere of “The Crocodile that Lived 100 Days”, an anime movie distributed by Medialink Group Limited (2230.hk) (“Medialink”). Guests of the premiere include Medialink’s Chairman, Executive Director and CEO, Ms. Lovinia Chiu, Executive Director, Ms. Noletta Chiu, Non-Executive Director Ms. Wong Hang Yee, JP, and ERROR, a local boy band who dubbed for the movie.

Based on the Japanese webcomic “The Crocodile Will Die in 100 Days”, the movie “The Crocodile that Lived 100 Days” is about the 100-daily life of Mr. Crocodile and the stories of his friends after the loss of important persons and things in life. It will be released on 26 August in Hong Kong.

(中文) 本所合伙人、诉讼及争议解决部主管徐凯怡律师近日就内地企业向香港法院申请保全临时措施的相关法律问题接受广东21世纪经济报道采访。

徐律师在《内地与香港仲裁保全安排实施近两年:保全申请所涉资产总值达141亿元》的报导中透过结合自身的经验,对内地企业如何向香港法庭申请财产保全等临时措施,分别从全面和坦诚的披露之重要性﹑如何预防法律风险和贷后监控等方面分享了多条实务建议。

《关于内地与香港特别行政区法院就仲裁程序相互协助保全的安排》(《保全安排》)已实施近两年,香港为内地以外唯一可以香港为仲裁地并由指定合资格的仲裁机构管理的仲裁程序的当事人,向有关内地法院申请保全措施,以协助进行有关的仲裁程序。

Partner Heidi Chui Invited by Department of Justice of the HKSAR and CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center as Webinar Guest Speaker

On 17 August 2021, our Partner and Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department, Ms. Heidi Chui, was invited by Department of Justice of the HKSAR (DoJ) and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) Hong Kong Arbitration Center (CIETAC HK Arbitration Center) as a guest speaker of a webinar titled “Practical Implementation of the Arrangement Concerning Mutual Assistance in Court-ordered Interim Measures in Aid of Arbitral Proceedings by the Courts of the Mainland and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region”.

The webinar was co-organised by the DoJ and the CIETAC HK Arbitration Center, and has invited distinguished guests including Ms. Kun Liu, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Judicial Affairs – Office of the Supreme People’s Court; Ms. Teresa Cheng, Secretary for Justice of the HKSAR, and Mr. Chengjie Wang, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CIETAC to discuss and share about the interim measures arrangement between Mainland and Hong Kong.

During the webinar, Ms. Chui discussed about the relevant statutes and factors to consider when applying for interim measures including an asset freezing order through an overall introduction of the Hong Kong arbitration system and several key case studies. She also shared her practical experience and tips for applying for interim measures in Hong Kong with the audience.

The webinar was a great success and has promoted further communications between Mainland and Hong Kong in terms of the arbitration practice and the development of dispute resolution mechanism in the Greater Bay area.

Partner Heidi Chui Reappointed as Lay Assessor of The Medical Council of Hong Kong

Our Partner and Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department, Ms. Heidi Chui, has been reappointed as a Lay Assessor by The Medical Council of Hong Kong (“the Council”), effective from 3 October 2021 for a term of 3 years. Ms. Chui is also a member of the Preliminary Investigation Committee of the Council.

Ms. Chui is an arbitrator on the panel of The Law Society of Hong Kong, one of the few solicitors who got accreditation and listed on the panel. She is also an arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Shanghai International Arbitration Center, Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, Hainan International Arbitration Court (Hainan Arbitration Commission), Nanjing Arbitration Commission, Guangzhou Arbitration Commission, Ningbo Arbitration Commission and Langfang Arbitration Commission.

She is also an accredited mediator of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, The Law Society of Hong Kong and a Panel Mediator for Buildings Management Cases of the Lands Tribunal, and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (U.K.). She is also a China Appointed Attesting Officer as appointed by the Ministry of Justice PRC.
