On 6 December 2017, our Associate Mr. Gordon Tsang attended and also gave a presentation at the “New Era, New Thinking, New Development – China and Foreign Banks Cooperation Symposium” held at Conrad Hong Kong. The symposium was hosted by China Everbright Bank (Hong Kong Branch) and supported by China Banking Association and The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers.

The symposium started with a speech from the Managing Director of China Everbright Bank Hong Kong Branch, Dr. Mike Chen, and Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, Ms. Carrie Leung. Our Mr. Gordon Tsang was the first keynote speaker in the afternoon session and gave a speech on “Acquisition Financing and Pre-IPO Financing”.

The other distinguished speakers delivered speeches on different issues, including “The Development of One Belt One Road and M&A market”, “China Economic Prospects 2018”, “The Development in Mainland China and the Opportunities in Hong Kong from the Change of Major Social Conflicts”, “The RMB Exchange Rate and the RMB International Development”, “The Trend of Interest Rate in Europe and the United States and Foreign Exchange”, “Global Capital Market Business”, and “Overseas Bond Market Financing Business Issued by China”. The symposium was well received and drew a large attendance.

The Asia Pacific Diploma in International Arbitration was successfully held in Hong Kong from 21 – 29 October 2017, conducted by The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of East Asia (CIArb), Australia and Singapore. Stevenson, Wong & Co. was honoured to sponsor the course which was well received and drew nearly 40 participants. After the course, both participants and the organizer expressed their delight that the course was held in our new office.

During an intensive nine-day program, participants have been taught the practice of international commercial arbitration covering major forms of arbitration and arbitration institutions including ICC, SIAC and CIETAC, and gained the ability to appear in or act as an arbitrator or counsel in different scenarios.
